Our Mission

The purpose of the Richmond Land Trust shall be to help preserve important lands in the Town of Richmond and to provide guidance for planned development in harmony with the traditional rural and scenic character of the town.

  • Total land preserved             912 acres
  • Properties owned                  20, totaling 200 acres
  • Conservation restrictions    8, totaling 712 additional acres
  • The Trust was established in 1989 and is managed by a volunteer board of 16 members.

John Keenum, president of the Richmond Land Trust presents a check to Becky Cushing, director of Mass Audubon's Berkshire Wildlife Sanctuaries and to Kate Buttolph, land protection specialist. The gift is for the stewardship fund that is being created to maintain the new Tracy Brook Wildlife Sanctuary -the beaver pond and heron rookery on Swamp Road, formerly part of the Girl Scout's Camp Marion White.
